The only models that have a firewall number are HD to HG, the chassis number is satamped into the chassis on HJs, near the steering box.

Sydney cars have a number on the firewall, but it is not a chassis number.

Elizabeth W size bodies had a number on the cowl for a time as well, similar to HQ firewall number. I think it stopped in HJ.

I can rest easy now.

Warren,

What would the number on the firewall be for then, would that be a body number?

Cheers

It does not appear on ID plates, but it does appear on other documentation.

With a HJ 4 door you cant really. There will be little pointers that are pretty specific to BAP and timeframe and also to driveline, but youd have to know the series pretty well to pick them.

This may be a stupid question, although I have been told there is no such thing as stupid question, what is BAP?

BODY NUMBER:the thin tag and other tag has body numbers that match,
but that doesnt confirm the body,as previously mentioned no actual body stamp, but its a good start.
Thanks Byron.
