Im looking at putting a high volume electric pump into a HT that will do a bit of straight line comp work.
For safety, I'm thinking of an Inertia Cut Out switch and / or a Tachometric Relay.
So far I can't seem to find much available locally. Does anyone know where I can source a universal Inertia Cut Out Switch and Tachometric Relay?

the good old gas safety switch can be had for a 6 pack of beer at the wreckers and does the job nicely.

Dunno about an inertia switch, ive never seen one fitted.

I suppose you could mount a mercury switch somewhere but youll be grappling with a circuit that runs the pump in motion and doesnt kill the engine at idle.

The tachometric relay is quite safe and acceptable.

Do not be tempted into fitting an oil pressure switch to control the pump.

Yep, right on the money. Any LPG fitter will be able to supply a new switch. Simply connect to coil signal, ignition power, then a relay to the pump for full 12v supply. Have fitted a couple recently. Usually about 2 seconds of power to the pump if no coil signal.

Thanks guys, I knew someone would be up on this sort of stuff. Havent played with gas, so didnt think of that avenue. To prime the system Ill just put in a momentary switch, then let the relay take over.

The Inertia Switch idea came out of Ebay. Theres lots of car specific Inertia Switches on Oz Ebay, but theyre all located in the States. Maybe the rules are different over there.

Gota go, Im off to see the gas man.

No need for momentary switch. Once LPG timer fitted, turn ignition to the on position & pump will run for approx 2 seconds. Off then on again, another 2 seconds. Do as many times as you need to prime system. Once happy, start the motor. As motor runs, coil signal will keep LPG switch open & fuel pump running. If motor stalls, no coil signal, fuel pump will stop. To start again, turn key as per normal.
Fitted correctly & youre on a winner, no down side.
