GDay All I have just pulled the valve gear off a Black head that has been in the shed for a bit. It has shims (washers) of varying thickness under each pair. Why are these there? And will I need to use them if I put it (the head) on a Blue motor. I have some ideas why they are there but would like to hear from someone who knows for sure. I have the EFI system to sell as well. |

Probably due to a reground cam, longer pushrods or other similar factors. Possibly the rocker bridges were ground down in the past for such reasons and a new standard base circle cam has been put in?

most likely had the head shaved resulting in to much preload on lifters if shims arent used.
