fitting a headlining in a van??any help /ideas?

Hi All,Im going to fit a headlining to my van (with a stupid sunroof) anyone done this before? and any help?it will be a bought headlining 1/2 roof ,just the front...any advice as I've never done one before. contact adhiesive arroung the door/window openings, and lay the vinyl out in the sun to warm it and take the creases out?
Never done it, but thats where Id start.

Its a big job to get a hood lining in straight without any wrinkles. When my van is ready Im going to get a trimmer to fit it. It may cost a few dollars but at least Ill be able to look at it and not see any creases....then wish Id gotten a pro to fit it.

gtrpu,I already have thought that,if i was going to get a pro i wouldnt have asked the question.,its only the front half of a van,cant be that hard can it?P.S.if it was a $35,000 car i would get a pro.

Hi Jim, Just wondering how you went with that headlining. My HG van has the sunroof as well. Did you manage to get the headlining to hold some shape. I have no headlining at all at the moment just two
roof bows, not even sure if thats all the hardware I need.
I was thinking when I do mine, I might cut the roof bows. Then drill a couple of holes in the sunroof trim ring and insert the shortened bows in, hoping that might hold the shape up above the doors. What do you think, worth a shot.
Any Pic's or tips.

Common sense and plenty of experience with vinyl tells me that warming it up takes creases out. And also Frannie, you're supposed to apply the contact adhiesive.

Did it on a Brougham recently and my initial advice is don't do it!
But.... if you're going to give it a go... mark the centre at the front and back of the lining and a matching centre mark on the car., fit your bows, and clip into place. Forget about your sunroof until you have tensioned everything. Grab a couple of packs of the steel spring clips (the ones with the fold out arms that they use in the office) from your local $2 shop. starting from the centre front (or back in a van) start stretching the lining over the windscreen and door openings. Each time you gently pull the lining place a clip to hold it. By the time you done this all the edges should have heaps of clips holding the lining reasonably tight. The you would cut your sun roof out of the lining rolling it over the roof and clamping as before. You can go round again and again and tighten a little each time. If you can get the car out in the sun and stretch it warm you will notice a huge difference.
Once you're happy with the fit you can glue small sections using the clamps to hold it until the glue dries.
