13/12/67 engine assembly date. K means McKinnon plant in Canada.

Not necessarily the 482nd 307 out of Elizabeth either, as that number series includes 327s as well in Monaro, Pontiac and Chev. This engine is probably pre Monaro but not the others.

Byron, does that usage of engine numbers apply to Brisbane, did they assemble Chev/Pontiac cars in Bne?

I ask because my car has engine number 3070055# and appears to be March 68 built.

Yes. As far as I know all four mainstream plants assembled 68 Impalas and Pontiacs. 3070055x is just an early HK 307 though. Pontiacs and Impalas were 327ci.

There are some Brisbane built GTS 327s with lower engine numbers than this one

Thanks Byron & Warren for those answers.

I asked because I thought the drift was that both 307 & 327 numbers were merged, meaning Brisbane started V8s at 00001.

For example one engine might be 30700435 and the next could be 32700436. Which would mean that both 307 & 327 were in the same number pool, have I got that right?

The engine number in my car is 30744438. In front of this there looks like 83K (maybe an X), but this part is hard to read. Any idea where / when this was built? Thanks for your help.

Dandenong engine, pretty late too as these started at 30740000. There shouldnt be any numbers before it.

There doesnt look like there is anything after the 30744438, only in front of it. I will have another look during daylight hours to confirm. Should there be something?
