Hello all,
Well I sent my project ute to a mechanic to get him to have a look at it to see what repairs were needed for rego and he has advised me that it is actually a HZ Panel Van that has been cut down to a ute. It can still be registered however, needs some work completed first.
My question to you all is - Do I spend money on it knowing its not a ute in the true sense of the word or do I just go ahead and do it up as my project ute. Should I maybe get a donor ute body to put onto the v8 chassis and will a ute body fit onto a panelvan chassis...ahh the delemma...
Any ideas..???
Thanks and regards..

The chassis is the same. I would check the numbers and see just what it was before I did anything. Is it a factory V8? Have you checked to see if it is a Sandman cut down or just an ordinary Kingswood/base model? That will give you some ideas as what to do. If it is nothing special and you are going to keep it, just leave it the way it is and play around with it. Do some research on the numbers.

Many vans back in the day where cut into utes. Was a good way to get nice clean sides with no tarp holes. Also to get a good un dented rear tray floor.

I wrecked a sandman van a while back. That was chopped into a ute.

Cheers
Jason
