maybe we need to start not registering our cars as there are heaps of corrupt people that work in these offices and can access your details anytime they like Edited by user Tuesday, 4 May 2010 3:27:47 AM(UTC)

Thanks for your replies guys. As I said earlier I only asked the question as alot of people wont provide actual photos of their ID plates and I was wondering if I should follow suit. It appears there is no problem emailing photos of them though.

How do you know if youre car is already on the register or not ! As i wouldnt mind putting it on for that bit of security. If my car is sitting in the garage un-registered and someone knocked off the tags (its a HK GTS) could they use them tags on another car or are they always linked to the Chassis number in the firewall. Just heaps of tags seem to be missing from cars that come up for sale so you would think there would be a heap of mock ups out there

roadster email them your details anyway if they already have them no harm done at least you know they are recorded and are useless if anyone was to somehow take them!! tags could be used on another body as long as that body is around the same year and state as the tags are!! omg you blokes, nothing is gunna happen if you post up your tags, really, do you think they are going to be reproduced and placed on a reproduction HK body shell or something? no chance of either the fore-mentioned happening..you would be more at risk by posting up your passport details on here..shhhheeesshhhh geeeesuuuzzzzzzzz

Both sides of the fence each have their strong points.
The main problem I would be worried about when sending photos of tags is that someone else may use the actual photos rather than the numbers. Ive seen a lot of scams on ebay and carsales where someone posts pictures of a car theyve gotten from the net and advertise the car at an unrealistically low price. They obviously tell prospective buyers that they will need to send a deposit straight away in order to hold the car as there has been so much interest in it. They then disappear with the deposit. A REVS check doesnt help on these vehicles as they arent stolen. Theyre just owned by someone else and not actually for sale.

If one were to make fake tags theyd be making numbers up, not copying someone elses. By copying youd be guaranteed of getting caught! Although many criminals are that stupid!
