What is the best process to remove and install a new front windscreen cowl from a 76 HJ Statesman Deville. This is the one piece unit that goes right across the complete bottom of the windscreen.
Windscreen is already out.
I would appreciate any assistance.
Thanks Fellars.

Big job but really the only way to do it is drill all the spotwelds out. Cut the whole firewall top and dash support out of a donor HJ-WB. You'll need the whole cowl and probably the inner cowl as well. Put the inner back in and weld up all the spotweld holes. Clean and paint it. Then put the top cowl back on (painted underneath) and do the same. Sometimes it is easier to undo along the firewall lower seam and do a staggered joint on the windscreen pillars, and replace the whole firewall, dash support etc. If you do it this way make sure you use a HJ firewall and cowl or you'll have to make mods for the HJ harness.

actually a massive job doing it like that.
a trick that used to be done for utes tonners etc was to unpick the floor join where the seats bolt into at front hole bolts, cut through the sills and stagger windscreen pillars and instantly a rust free front cut from a statesman or more desirable model which air/con sports dash and was done in a few hours.
this was particularly popular in tonners and vans and utes because you killed 3 problems with 1 job, all commercials had rusted cowls, knackered floors and sills, and while you were there, you could put statesman dash in the commercial as well, and because most statesmans were babied earlier in their lives, the front cut was generally in better condition and easier to find. also popluar in HQ coupes in early days when fitting HZ-WB Caprice front and dashes.

Frank is almost right, but if the floors are good then joining at the firewall to floor join as I stated above is heaps easier. Why I saw "almost right" Frank, is it is easier again to join at the rear seat bolts where the factory front to rear floor joint is.

To Me,it really depends on the extent of the rust,(or problem)you can get away with rust repair cowls just for the ends if thats the problem.
But as the above guys have said and what you've asked ,yes either way big job, cheap to do the cowl itself, the other way as in the BIG cut we wreck way, that would be dearer, but with really good "side benifets"including the whole look, inside and outside, if thats what your looking for.
