It's not going to affect anyone reproing old parts except a few minor businesses like sticker makers where RS will police the copyright. All design patents for models up to about 1990 have expired. Status quo remains the same regarding trade mark (eg GMH can stop you from embossing "HOLDEN" on a repro part)

If this results in better quality repro parts them I am all for it. I have bought steering idler arm supports from the biggest names in the business but they all have more or as much play in them as my original with 200,000 kms behind them.
