HQ side mirrors

I'm looking for a good left side mirror for a HQ and I remember years ago someone telling me that they were very hard to find.
A dude pulled me over about 8 years ago and offered me $60 for my mirror. Didnt sell it.

Looking on eBay it seem everyone is calling them HQ/J/X/Z/ LH/LX mirrors.
Are they realy all the same or are the HQ ones different and hard to find?

I'm guessing the new mirror heads are made from crap quality stainless?

My HQ never had a passenger side mirror, I guess they were optional or introduced later in the range..? Could explain why they're a bit rarer.

The LHS mirror was only fitted as an accessory in those days. With every car getting a RHS mirror as standard & very few customers getting LHS ones fitted, they would be outnumbered 50 to 1.

BTW, it's only the mirror stem that is unique, the head & mounts are the same.

In NZ left side HQ mirrors were very rare ! The LH mirror bases you can buy now are not the same as the orig mirror bases , must be different mould ? Mark.
