I'm mid rebuild on my HQ. I'd put Rare Spares seals in but they barely touch the window and leave noticable gaps at the ends. I've got four mint doors going on and even though it'll be weekends only from now, i want to do my best to keep water out.
Fabricating isn't an issue. Anyone tried something along these lines?

This is rough but i did it to a old monaro quarterwindows in the late 80s,cut up a pushbike tube and glued it neatly to window bottom and then over onto the body panel .There was no stainless trim and couldnt wind window down ,but it worked.Ran it like that for years although not something youd do these days.-keeo

insted of bike tube try a thick piece of felt and fix it to bottom of the window, so when the window is wound all the way up the felt contacts the window seal from underneath and should stop the water getting in. use the same trick on a set of hg doors for my old boy

Shop around, there are a few other brands to choose from. Why are you worried about keeping the water out, as long as the insides of the doors are clean, painted and fishoiled and the drain holes work where's the prob.

They'll be painted and fish-oiled, but we all know how easily the drain holes clog and hey, prepared or not, i'd rather not have water in there!
The felt idea is a simple and effective one. Cheers!

You can buy lengths of the stuff, and cut it to the exact length. You need to drill/punch some little holes to put the new clips on, but this way they get put in the right place! I've done this on a few cars with great success. It's still made by RSP though. |
