got an custom eh special sedan with worked 186, bout to change oil in it for first time after geting it and have heard a few storys on the best way to do it. One story is have the front wheels raised with the car on an angle wen draining the oil and i also got told not to do that and keep the car on level ground..

Thanks for your help.

p.s i got the door buttons working with the interior light but the neons i had behind the door card would still not turn on, i had the negative from neon to door button and positive to the same power as the interior light?? and heating problem is fixed, faulty temp gauge, still runs a little hot though which is understadable for a worked engine.

Hi Tom,

Red Motors lean back at an angle of about 3 degrees in the car so the oil drains back into the main bit of the sump. The sump-plug is positioned to drain the oil with the car level.

Warm the motor a bit (not to full operating temp, maybe 3 -

No worries Tom. I forgot to mention before that you can buy oversize sump-plugs if your sump thread is knackered and needs a re-tap.

I'm an old fart so I'm not a great fan of neons....however, check that the neons work by running a temporary feed and e

H Tom, just adding a little bit of humour here.

I reckon we could all do you one better than neons around the door locks. Well it'd be pretty sure to get the Police pulling you over once they'd stopped laughing.

There was a very recent thread on how to post pics on Fastlane.

Good luck with the car and let us know how you get on mate.

Cheers...Dave

I personally don't agree with draining oil while warm. The fact it is warmer and runnier may make it come out quicker, but if you drain it while it is cold, all of the oil that will drain down to the bottom of the motor will be in the sump. If you have ha

Do you REALLY want an answer to that question Peter? :-))

Many of the more fanatical street car motor racing fraternity always do 2 oil changes within 50 kilometers. The first to get rid of 95% of the dirty oil, the second to get rid of 95% of the rema

I'm in agreeance with Peter - let the oil stay in the sump for an oil change!! Put cold oil into a cold motor, not cold oil in a hot motor! Plus your oil's all in the sump from overnight already, so your getting more oil out in the first place!
