All 3 wires to the ammeter are 5 or 6mm red.

The firewall connector on HK-HG was notoriously unreliable. It would better just to run the wires straight through the connector plug instead of cutting them & adding terminals.

The exact position of the 2 going through that plug are in the wiring diagram in the rear of the HK workshop manual. It is well worth getting a copy.

"The firewall connector on HK-HG was notoriously unreliable"

I can only agree with that statement Doc. At the 2004 Nationals, we had about 200 odd Monaros on the grid at Bathurst. Come time to head off for the big lap, my car wouldn't start, no power to anything. Had to wave all the other cars past, then opened the bonnet, pushed the connector and heard the "click" as it snapped backed into place.
How embarassing!

To convert your Prem to GTS dash, the following would need to be done:

1)Wire from alternator to battery cut
2)Run wire from Alternator to dash, thorugh grommet in firewall
3)Remove red wire from dash connect to fuse panel and re route from firewall to dash.
4)Run wire from dash to fuse panel

Join wires 2 and 4 on one side of ammeter, 3 on other side.
