Firstly ,thanks taking the time to cut and paste my original post at the beginning of the thread.

I don't know who LX5008 is.

I think it was puzzling that LX5008 removed the copy of your letter if he was attempting to make your company look less professional than Phil's.

The way I read that letter I saw Rare Spares reacting to a challenge from a competitor in a fair and realistic way whilst not immediately eroding its price point as a first reaction.

If a company is marketing a good quality product and has an established price (even if it is making huge profit from it) and someone else comes up with a product which seems to be the same but is thrown into the market at a cheaper price, wouldn't it make sense to research and compare the quality of the competing product and then inform agents and resellers to compare the quality before trashing its brand with price cuts?

I think the letter was O.K. If anything it was an indication of pride and confidence in your products. David you have nothing to hide in that letter and I suggest you publish it here yourself. Most fair minded people would see it as a fair challenge to Phil.

Good luck to Phil and yourself. We, in this hobby need all of you. The more suppliers, the more variety, the more quality gets driven, the more this industry survives.

I for one would not entertain the thought of embarking on any kind of project in this area without you and all of the others out there.
If I have a need I would consider purchase from any of you.

Print the letter David, it won't bite you. It shows evidence that you are prepared to stand by your quality quality statement and demonstrate it in the field.

Hello Silverfox and thanks for both your comments and advice.

Whilst you are perfectly correct in suggesting that Rare Spares could, and perhaps should publish the 'stolen' internal Distributor memo, we have nevertheless decided not to do so in this instance. We really don't see it to be ethical or fair to 'publicly' criticise another business even though there is no shortage of people happy to ctiticise us, even at times when it is totally unwarranted. We wish to remain above the 'sniper' tactics as we have always done in the past. However, this does not mean that we will cease to carefully compare products from our competitors, it's just that we will keep our assessments internally and let the customers decide which product best suits them. This is not only fair play but common business sense in our view.
Regards
David

You could publish an edited version that mentions no names. I read the "leaked" document but many here did not. You would only have to write what it said about sending samples. All done nice and clean nobody being denegrated publicly.

If you have a clearly better product than your competitors (& I have no doub't that you do) at a more expensive price (fair enough) what's wrong with letting the world know.

Thanks for that Jim much appreciated. We will take your thoughts on board but again we are a little sensitive with the thought of criticising others even if we don't quote names. Sometimes there is a fine line between being competitive and ethical and at this stage I don't believe Rare Spares has ever croseed that line. Regards David

The judging of all modified classes shall be done by the ASMF. That way there can be no doubt about integrity of the judging in that area.

The judging of stock classes shall be by people who know those models well enough.

Ben shall be one of them. I shall also be doing some judging and am open to anyone else who wants to help.

So if you are interested (and not just being an idiot) let me know what models you would be comfortable with. I can then supply you with all the things you will need on the day. We will be using the system used at the 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 events. This system has been discussed here at length after it was not used in 2008, but if you need more info PM me.

Hi Warren,

Would be greatly interested in the concourse judging criteria as am restoring a 74 Monaro GTS/4 Adelaide built and would want to see if mine qualifies for a concourse car, for eg. am using still the original factory armourglass glass but has some scratches and streaks in it. Does it qualify for concourse???

Cheers

Concours requires the car to be in perfect condition, must wear correct type tyres, date codes allign etc. Rule book on Monaro nationals site.
