Rightoh I need some serious :p opinions from you lot for the following topic (think it has been asked here many times before, but I'm a little d-d-dah different). Although this is only my first full resto on a car I can see that it is no where near going to be the last, I hope that one day I might become proficient enough to do everything in house. My intention on this build was to strip the car and let the panelbeaters sort the body out (got enough $$$ sorted). After reading over some builds (GMH-torana forum) I think its kinda stupid if I dont learn some of this stuff first (and to me, fixing cars is as much fun as driving a nice one, stuff the $$$). So do I....
1. Stick with the original plan, let the beaters sort it out and be done with it, learn on the next project...
2. Get a proff. to do the metal work and I'll do the prep (still get experience with filler and stuff).
3. Buy a welder, and how-to DVDs, ask a few of the older guys in the club to help us out and learn the lot myself (will try on a few panels first).
*** Paint work will not be done by me**** (its too cold here at the mo)
Bare in mind, regarding $$$ I can do any of these options but thought since this is my main hobby it would be stupid not to learn.
Sorry for being so long but thought I'd lay the cards down...
Cheers
