I have a mate with a VT commadore and yesterday it dropped number 2 cylinder. It had a couple of doggy ht leads that I replaced but still no good. I checked all the plugs and only number 2 was wet. I checked that each ht lead was firing and they were. I swapped spark plugs and number 2 cylinder fowled again and the old plug ran fine in #4 cylinder. I checked that #2 plug was sparking by taking the plug out and earthing it and it sparked well...ps, I also got a bloody good shock from it too, and I know how many volts those coils put out!

The only thing that happened prior to this is that number 1 cylinder exhaust stud had snapped and I could hear it ticking away but that was the oppisite bank and it was runnung fine and over a week ago.

There seams to be heaps of unburnt fuel and the exhaust it very smokey (black)

Any Ideas?

What is the compression reading on umber 2 compared to the rest? It sounds like you'll struggle to get a dry reading...

Before it choked the number 4 plug in the number 2 hole, how did it run? Any sign of backfire through either end?

Cheers...Dave

Hi Dave, the compression test is the next thing this morning......it looks like a over fueling problem, do the injectors play up, or the ecu have problems?? I will get back to you on the compression, at least that will eliminate any mechinical issues.

Back again.
Checked all cylinder compressions and all @180psi. With the plugs out and the Ign fuse removed fuel pours out #2 cylinder when cranking, I disconected the injector plug to #2 and removed all injection & fuel fuses and still fuel pours out. I

Hi Darren,

At least it isn't majorly internal...

I know some injectors can be serviced and you can buy kits to do this but I'm unsure about the VT ones.

If it is some garbage stuck in the injector, the next question is why did this happen? What i

Hi Dave,

I quizzed him on the same thing, he said that the fuel filter had only been changed recently...the only thing thats happened out of the normal is his wife took the car out and apparantly gave it an absolute thrashing. Could have stirred thing

Hi Dave
Alls well that ends well, A fresh set of exchange injectors ($239.00) and a manual and away they went. Solved the problem. The plenium had to be removed to access the injectors, but not too bigger a job. I left it with the owner and a mate to fix
