Looking at specs for feb 1972 LJ , they list ' Rally Stripes ' as --extra cost --custom feature , for GTR , But except XU1 ? did GTRs come with no stripes ?? Mark.

To my knowledge LJ GTR & GTR XU-1 models had no stripes. They did get blacked out side window frames & lower panels.
LC GTRs got side stripes similar to HG GTS models as standard, while rally stripes (over the bonnet & boot) were optional. The side stripes could be delete optioned. LC GTR XU-1s had no stripes.
I would be interested in seeing that list. It could be issued in error, because it appears to be referring to LC options. Feb 1972 was the first month of LJ sales, so it is possible.

Dr terry. Is it correct that only the Adel built LC GTR's got the over the bonnet etc stripes? I was told this by a torana mad bloke a week or so ago.

Just relaying info from 'Holden custom features colour and trim album ' , my LJ GTR has stripes , but has been repainted before I got it ? Mark.
