I'm running a 253 to aussie 4 speed which I've just had rebuilt and I've put in a new clutch and attempt to put in the new thrust bearing which is a 222.
It's a pull type clutch and I'm finding the carrier for the thrust bearing is too short because I'm not getting enough pressure up against the new clutch, with the pivot ball fully extended.
Has anyone experience this and know how I can resolve this problem? It's doing my head in.

I may have just found the resolution. I'll find out when I ring the clutch bloke in the morning.

Does anyone have the part number for the HZ clutch?

this is a common problem...if you ring your average auto supply store and ask for a thrust bearing and carrier for a v8 hz/wb/ with full cable pull clutch you will get sent a 6cyl one because some numbnut down the line somewhere decided to supersede the number from holden for v8...but they didnt supersede the number for 6 cyl and then another numnut decided to list 6cyl and v8 as the same coz he couldnt find what a v8 one looked like or a number for it and he must have spoke to his mate at the pub who told him they are the same...

WELL THEY ARE NOT...BY AT LEAST 1/2 INCH...

what you need to order is the superseded one.... which is for vn to vs v8 with t5 box...same as v8 hz/wb with a different part number..

i just read all the replies over at old holden...they are a helpful bunch arent they....

its just a pity that none bar paul had any idea what the common problem with these are...also in my reply above i forgot to add that the other problem with these are the wrong clutch pedal...

car runs sweet now after being off the road for a month.
The clutch kit I put in is a R102N Clutch Kit (Holden V8) from PBR.
