Hey does anyone know the bosch part # for the 85A alternator that can be retrofitted to HQ? (or how to tell them apart from the other units). Thinking about running the battery in the boot, what size cable is recomened for running it back to the engine bay and any other considerations? Cheers

There were a couple of types fitted the HQ these alternators had external voltage regulators/// normally 2 external posts and a T plug. The Bosch BXH1250 85 amp alternator is one solution. This was originally fitted to the VS V8 and can be fitted with out to much trouble. Shoot me an email if you need any more info. We do these mods usually with a polished or chrome beast,,,,happy to help if needed... cheers Mick www.sparesplanet.com.au |

Apologies mate forgot the other question, We put a lot of batts in the back of American muscle cars and we always use 00B&S (gauge) battery cables and a larger battery like a N70Z. Any battery with 680cca or up rating, by doing this you will not suffer from voltage drop at the starter. Simply put larger cables and a bigger battery. Mick www.sparesplanet.com.au |
