Hi Blokes/Ladies; Does anyone have any input regarding the quality of the Radum 2 post hoists? At the moment you can pick up a 3t 2 post for about $2500 single phase. I have had a look around (mostly ebay) for a molnar/repco/tecalamit one but they all seem to be 3 phase and thrashed. I was going to extend the shed another bay to make room for the projects but I figure this will be a cheaper option and also bloody handy for the HK prem rebuild as well as all the other stuff I do. No doubt if I do get one I will gain a few extra "mates". Cheers' Ged Edited by user Sunday, 20 June 2010 10:03:58 AM(UTC)

Something I have been told about 2 post hoists with the 4 arms that go under the chassis. Is that you have to be careful using them to store a car. This is because they can twist your chassis. How true this is I don't know. But would make sense over time I guess as compared to the proper storage ones that have ramps the tyres sit on.
I'm interested to know the answer to this myself as I'm in the same position. No room!

i bought a 2 year old single phase chinese type hoist..will check the brand tomorrow... about a year ago and the only issue i have had with it is the hydraulic line as they are cheap as...i paid 1k for the hoist...as for storing cars on it ..short term so far nothings squashed the car underneath yet but it does not have alloy arms...as for chassis twisting it could only happen if you dont have the arms square to the car.. going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car... www.classicozwreck.com.au |

Thanks for your input guys. I suppose you get what you pay for. Perhaps a 4 post would be a better option. Can get these for about $3000. Still works out cheaper than making the shed bigger. I am surprised they make the hoists with aluminium arms. Surely they cant comply with Australian standards?

Same here, 2nd hand Molnar, ex-workshop. Was a real good buy. I still own it, but say "was" - I asked my brother-in-law to store it while we moved house, and the bugger bolted it down & commenced using it.... A lot of people I know have bought hoists from Laurie at http://www.superhoistplus.com/ and are very happy with them. Had I not picked my 2nd hand Molnar one up for such a good deal, I would have bought one from him myself. He's a true car guru, and into motorsport himself - he understands our "car guy" needs & isn't just selling them as a job. For anyone in the market for a new car hoist, don't fall for the trap of a cheap Asian imported hoist, most of these do not comply with Australian Safety Standards, nor do they have Work Cover compliance. In the case of an accident or worse a fatality, you are on your own, I would dare say the person that sold it will be long gone. Don't also fall in the trap of purchasing a product with an American background, as these are also made in China. Tecalemit have been in the Australian hoist business for over 30 years, we longer produce hoists in Australia, however, our hoists are made in Italy t exceed Australian Standards & are all Work Cover approved. So ask yourself a question, where would you rather stand? Go to our website www.tecalemit.com.au for more information.

I shopped around a while ago and decided BendPak made the strongest and safest so I ended up buying a BendPak HDS-14 Four Post, 6.3T capacity. Not cheap but I can certainly recommend the BendPak brand. I think I got it through www.nqas.com.au

Good choice mate. I hired two heavy duty duct-lifters to help lift the runways on. Mine are 5-metres long and bloody heavy.
