Hahahahahahahahhahha I haven't been on here for a while and tonight I thought I would have a gander and blow me down some keyboard warrior is having a crack at the boys.
It only took 20 posts for this geezer to bring up Mingswoods or Kingaroos.
That must be a new record surely.
Boys I can't wait for the Nationals to be in Perth. Come over boys, and park your cars in my shed. I would be proud to have them.
They can keep my Mingswood and Selmont's company
Bingy the boys have invited you to post up a photo of your Monaro.
Please grace us

Hey Guys,

LMAO at the vidoes!!

As one of the organisers of Toranafest, I have one question for Warren and others,
Why have your entries closed already? It seems strange that you would close entries so far out from the event. Especially when your numbers are, from what I gather, down from previous years.

I am sure that there is a valid reason, just curious, that's all.

cheers
Mick

We set the closing date a couple of months out to organise all the details. Like many other club run nationals. (FE/FC nationals closed before Chrismas one year as Easter, when the event was on, was very early that year, mid March. I think it was Adelaide)

If the numbers are down who cares? (Times are tough on some at the moment, plus many cars are in Victoria, so would expect numbers to be down)

Just better for those that actually come to the event.

Toooooo often in the past the clubs have been worried that if they did not have the attendance they would loose money. Guys would turn up on the day of the show and want their cars classified and judged, have a goody bag etc.

They would wait to see what the weather was like before deciding to come. The event is on rain hail shine and at Bathurst even snow. So we do not need to cater for those that are only going if its fine.

It's a 4 day event, and if you are going you would already know, so we closed to make it a better for those who are giving us the commitment.

Yes it upsets people but they are the vast minority. If we are down by 20% of entrants it will make no difference.

And it will make no difference to the many that will travel 160km to view.

Warren

Thanks for the reply Warren,

Hope all goes well with the Nationals. I know what sort of effort goes into running an event of this size.

To those that were "discussing" the amount of kilometres, spare a thought for those that make the pilgramage to Newcastle for Toranafest. We had a couple of guys travel down from Emerald, Qld for the event last year!
That's about a 3,000km round trip!!

cheers
Mick

Different people prefer to different things.
All I know is that I travelled to Ballarat for the last one. 1200ks each way aprox with enclosed trailer. Had a ball. Met great people. Saw lots of fantastic cars.

Its great if people travel 50 or 5000Ks doesn't matter. Just get there and stop being precious about who travels what distance.

This time for me it's much closer. About 350Ks each way. I'm booked in.

Come and say Gday........I'm the one with the Red Monaro!

Cheers
Nick

P.S. I understand the next Nats could be W.A. I would love to go if I can.
