With a VIN number of 81837KH5595** and a body number something like 81837KR-003**-H5 what would the BUILD/CHASSIS number be? Should it be higher or lower than 595** and how far away from that number would it normaly be? The car is blue with black interior and I'm thinking about going for it but I know bugger-all about HK 327's so I'm on a learning curve. Thanks

Chassis number will have no relation to either the PSN or BODY numbers. You'd be looking around HK49xxxSS-HK50xxxSS as a chassis number original to those plates. BODY number should be somewhere in the lower 300's.

Thanks Byron Ok so the PSN/BODY number and the BUILD/CHASSIS number and the VIN number have no relation to eachother.
How do you come up with that chassis number range? Do you refer to the Monaro register or something?

its an educated guess... Byron I'm pretty sure has taken a sample of the numbers from known cars and can make a fairly accurate assumption as to a range of chassis numbers that the car you are looking at should fall between.... it is by no means 100% accurate but it is as good an indication as you will get... by the way... is this a canberra car?

Spot on. PSN is the last bit of the VIN.
