We bought a HQ utility today less a motor which has a v8 diif so I'm wondering will this diff be alright to use with a 202 engine.

yes, you will need to use the V8 tailshaft with it..

check the ratio, if its 2.78 it will be too tall for 202

It's usually stamped into the metal cover over the pinion seal. To be really sure, count the teeth on the pinion and the crown wheel. Hypothetically, if the crown wheel has 30 teeth and the pinion 10, the ratio is 30:10 or 3:1

an easy way is to jack 1 wheel up and cound how many HALF turns the tailshaft does in 1 full turn of the tyre.
this is your ratio.
