i will not repeat what i said to you in response to your silly comments above because it will mysteriously disappear again, all i will say to you SGO is that this is a free forum and if i reckon they are fools for paying that much for stuff, simple. but i do have a problem with my posts being deleted. once again, i will post this up; thats exactly right, when a post is deleted, it leaves a huge hole in the thread, makes it very hard for the next person that just jumps on it to actually make sense of the ongong convo, and then to make it worse, you get no reason why its been removed..go figure????? yeah man; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL3P1pP1wAQGS man...

Just for the sake of this discussion, I haven't seen what's been deleted and agree that none of it should be deleted. On the other hand calling people "morons" for either buying or selling at any price seems a little rude. Then to put the same items up for sale; and I'm sure you will accept the high price you get; would put you in the "moron" group as well?
PS: To me; they're worth maybe $20 the pair, but I guess that's not the market rate? :)

At the time of writing, $150-205k is about the price for a nice 327/350 car, history known and well documented. Put in a few well researched parts, enter into a concours situation and it wins. Well your little $150-205k car just jumped in prestige, value and desirability. There unfortunately can only be one winner and winner takes all. Take pebble beach in the U.S for instance, there are cars that exceed easily US$4 million spent on the restoration of them alone. At the moment in our little Australia there are cars in various restoration shops that have easily exceeded $200k, and the rolling body is only up to primer. Serious cars for serious investors! The battery in a mean market such as the one we have right now has gone for an absolute bargain, and applied in the right circumstances a projected $15-20k is easily added to the cars blue-chip stocks value. And over the next ten years we should start to see some of these oz built cars make it to the top concours events around the world. My own prediction would probably go to either the 327 HK or the 350 HT. Both having remarkable racing pedigree, truly Australian and outstanding styling. I know the GT-HO has rarity and pedigree going for it, but no 4 door taxis with race stripes. Fast or not, have ever fared real well on the lawns at pebble beach. Kinda like an imaginary HT Kingswood, 4 dr sedan with 350 4spd and stickers. Too attainable, too often replicated and therefore unfortunately becomes too common. The achilles with the early Monaroes was they were also built in belmont type form (161 crash). If they had'nt, the car would most probably have been a feature earlier and much stronger in the investment sweep stakes. All that said. The car, After writing this will probably be a Zeta lightburn or a bloody Goggomobil that flies to the top. (battery went to a very nice 69 HT 350 car, which is what the date code on it matched):-)

The whole concours thing in the US makes me scratch my head. $4 mil resto's are done on very rare cars and the irony is that they are rebuilt using lots of handmade replica parts.
If someone today makes perfect copies of those batteries or whatever other very hard to source part we invariably see the asking price of original items rapidly plummet, Monaro wheel covers for example.
The question is do the judges at concours events deduct points if repro, refurbished or hand made parts (eg rear qtr panels) are fitted in lieu of NOS?

And the guy with the wreck in the paddock simply wants more money, cause he is sick of sleeping on a parkbench with newspapers covering him. And what happened to the $5 flagon of grog? A pack of smokes is more than $12 for a small pack!! and it's only going to get worse. Soon they'll find a way to tax our behinds for sitting on the office chair in front of the pc talking to all our beloved mates on fastlane. Keeping it real, keeping it fun has nothing to do with money. It's participation and feeling a part of it even if you only own one $5 original ac spark plug. If it means the world to you, it's just as valuable as the guy with the winning car. Watch any great Australian movie. There he is!! the hero with the $5 spark plug in his pocket, WINNING!! KEEP IT REAL. (and refrain from posting up shock jok pic crap) That was aimed directly at HT350 btw. Now where did that itchy and scratchy show go?
