i'm tipping 11.30pm, your bet???

Get over yourself Frank. Posting abuse like "what about this crap from erik" in this thread is just trolling. Erik started the auction at $19.95 - why attack him for what someone else is prepared to pay for his goods? It's called a free market. If you don't like it move to Cuba, North Korea or some other Communist state and take your clapped out 4door taxi with you. Mate.

DCOE,
i dont think that was abuse at all my friend, i was just stating that i feel people are nutz, my opinion, if your opinion is different, thats your problem, but i'm still tellin ya thats crazy paying that much, and if they think its a good investment, they are still living the dream, even if its not about making money on the car.
lol@move to cuba, we are fast becoming worse than any of the above countries you mention.
now move along fella, sniff the fume's from my fairmont with a stripe...NEXXTTTTTT.. quack quack

Maybe Frank could have used different language, but that doesn't change the gist of what he is saying.

The point is, what is the point of paying $1000 for a wiper motor/battery/wash pump/or whatever else is rare and NOS, when the retail price of Australian muscle cars is going down the toilet. Even the experts can't see the trend reversing any time soon.

It would be far more prudent to be putting money into American cars and waiting for US buyers to come here wanting back what they've been exporting for years.

Its supply and demand , its maybe that one part that finishes your car off . I paid just as much for parts for my Van as i would for a Monaro because i wanted things right .
All these cars cost the same to restore (properly)whether it be a Holden , European car etc.. if you get my point.
5 Monaros recently have sold between 100K and 200K privately and i am doing my best to help move a few more big dollar cars, so they are selling , just not through the normal means .
People do have money out there , its just all us paupers who keep saying people are crazy for paying that much , but if only we had the money ...
Look at my 58 Desoto that sold at Shannons last night for 50K ,i never saw that coming , That was a good price, but someone was willing to outlay that for a 4 door car that was customized.
The problem is people are doing second rate jobs on many of these Cars , monaros in particular , trying to penny pinch on parts and once everyone knows its a flea bag they dont sell .
Anything of good quality will always sell Frank and you know it .

we didnt stay there long enough to see your fireflite fly through the bidding, me and my "muscle car value smashing crew" tri-monthly social gathering decided to go and have pizza and gelati at 8.30pm at coco's up the road, was more entertaining and wasnt as cold.
yeah, good stuff sells, always does and will, but inbetween enthusiasts themselves, like art or anything, but you are targeting a different as soon as it is in a certain price range, hence these dyas its harder, but meh, the pizza was ok last night, but the cassata was brilliant, as was the company i was it, and thats my main concern..

got off topic a but toward the end, please dont delete my post

I rest my case and you will continue to see quality American iron get dearer, especially with this stoopid new import law.

As has been said many times, our market for local cars and parts is very small which I think acts as a negative rather than a positive with regard to values. Sure you will get people who must have a GTS or a GT, but as James hinted those cars are not getting any easier to shift, and woe betide you if you overcapitalise on a resto.

Investment strategy should be to pick what is now going up in value in the US and hold it for future sale back to them.

You make me laugh Frank about you and your buddies !!!
Its all about the food i know !
But yeah it was so cold there last night , definitely was not a night i should have been wearing the Bongiourno Shoes !
Chris was over the moon getting his $50K for it , but so he should after spending so much time on it .
Funny you say that about the American cars , i see the Yankee Chryslers are really taking the lead in popularity now in Australia as far as new cars people would like to own .
There will always be that following for people who love their iconic Camaros , Firebirds, Mustangs , 57 Chevs etc.. But after having driven all of them , they have their place and drive ok , but go drive a Big Block Chrysler or Pontiac , Ford Product , then you will get down on both knees and vomit at your Iconic cars .
Problem is we are who we are, and grew up with what we know and our backgrounds are our backgrounds ,and hence we drive the cars we can afford or are familiar with .
I have managed to convert a few people to the US cars . Such good Value in the US right now as they are desperate for bucks over there . I have just bought a 1968 300 Chrysler Coupe (Hidden Headlamp Model) with Floor Shift and 440 engine all stock faded original for $1500 US , all matching numbers etc..
Will be $6000 AU back here , can you beat that ?

Sorry i am off topic now talking about US cars ,as i forgot this is a Holden Forum . So please dont delete my post , as i am only doing myself and Rare Spares out of Sales telling people to buy US cars anyway !
