He told me it was originally all one colour and he had the roof done in white when he had it resprayed. I think I prefer the look of the white roof myself. Is there a way to tell on the plates if it had a white roof from factory?

If it had a white painted roof from the factory, the paint code for the white would be stamped where it says 'TOP' on the body ID plate. The white for HQ was usually Glacier White 568-13134.

Is there any demand for matching numbers HQ 202 Premiers though? Would it be worth more or less than a car with the mods you are suggesting?

It's not just that it's a matching numbers car. Over time, pristine unmolested cars like this will become more & more scarce & their values will increase, no matter that they're 'just' Premiers or Kingswoods. Have a look at the value of fairly stock plain-Jane FE/FC or FB/EK cars etc.

With a car like this, the fact that the numbers match can only add to its value.

As much as Id like it if it was a 308, I want to keep her all original, just like she left the factory. Its just a nice cruiser, and personally I think the 202 suits her just fine.

I'd still keep it in mind if the engine dies for whatever reason and needs a freshen up. Then put the 202 and 6cyl trimatic on a pallet wrapped up in plastic. If you do this keep ALL 6cyl attachments with screws etc in their right place (cable tie in their holes if you have to). But as you say, leave as is whilst it's going OK.
