I was driving today and my car ran like crap from the get go, I drove for 1/2 Hour and stopped, I have a clear in line fuel filter that sits level and the fuel was below the inlet & outlet?? Normally this is totally full with no air.
It runs a std mechinical fuel pump and has an elecetric pump under the car that has had the wires disconnected so it just sits inline. It's on of those stator type elec jobs. I am about to remove and fit fuel line in it's place.
Any how, back to the prob, I disconnected the fuel filter hose and got sprayed with fuel, heaps of preasure, I blew through the filter and it was clear, I undid the needle and seat fron the side of the original strombreg 2 barrel carb and there was fuel up to the needle and seat hole. I cranked the car with the kill switch on and after a couple of rotations fuel pulsed out of the line.
The mech fuel pump has been replaced but not sure when, not in ther last 12mths, do they have a releaf valve in the pump, how does it regulate supply? Do these have a common fault?
