I'm thinking about getting some 205.75.14 Diamond-Back MX redwall tyres from:

I've sent emails to two of his email addresses and had no reply for a couple of weeks. Thats never a good sign usually. Havent phoned them yet.

Has anyone here purchased these before?

Are you looking at getting the MX's too?
Is 205.75.14 the way to go? I think originaly they were probably closer to 195 I think . . . but not sure.

Not sure what i want to put on my Monaro was thinking of importing the old bias/ply tyres from the US like the goodyear, firestones etc... that came out on the Monaro as high performnce options.
They where the D=185, E=195, F=205, G=215 tyre in a 70 series equivalent to a 185/70 today on the rally wheels but can fit 215s but wouldnt go such a high wall with redlines as you loose the effect in my opion.

Hi Ripig,
not sure why you are thinking of red walls?

While I haven't made a study of tyres for the Monaro ( I need to )
I can tell you that XU-1 1972 and possibly early 1973 had the redwalls, but my Aug 73 definately no longer had them fitted and I have my build sheet to prove it.

So if your Monaro is a late 73 or 1974 then chances are that it may not have had them as standard fitment.
If you only want them for looks don't let me stop you.

I bought Coker Redwalls for my HK some time ago. They look the part but the quality was a bit sus. One tyre was about 10 mm taller than the other three. I doubt that they would match a modern tyre for sheer drivability either. I went for 205 x 70 x 14 in order to cut the revs down a bit at freeway speeds.

How much are the Diamond back redwall tyres...???? Are they as expensive as the BF Goodrich range.

Hi Mike, I wasnt aware of that. I often see them on HJ/Z/X Monaros as well. Mine is late 74 but I just like the look of the redwalls so I'll probably go for it anyway.

I've purchased several sets of 'classic' tyres from John Cain in Newcastle over the years & they've been great. Not this brand, mine are 13-inch.

These Diamond-Back tyres seem to have the best of both worlds. The tyre itself is made by a top tyre company & this bloke customizes them. It looks to be a better idea than the locally available "tyre whitewall' or 'tyre redwall' which is applied with the wheel & tyre still on the car.

When I get home from work in a couple of weeks I'll phone him.

I'll go with 205 wide, just a little wider than original but what size is close to the original walls - 70 or 75 series?
