Hi all,
I am looking at getting a Mongoose security system an include keyless entry on the HQ - now it is nice and straight and the one colour again.
The sparky said he has had trouble with the after market solenoids used as the Hq mechanism are heavy (and often full of dirt and crap).
Does anyone have experience with good heavy duty aftermarket solenoid which might be better???
thanks

iv'e got central locking as part of my alarm on my HQ
the solenoids were struggling to unlock the doors, so i pulled the door locks apart and gave them a good clean with degreaser, they were still a little stiff but better
so i opened a door latch up and found the spring inside was a little to strong, so i removed it and stretched it slightly and put it back together, the door locks jump up and down very easy now, and have so for the last 2 years and i am still using the solenoids that came with the kit

Also maybe look at HZ/WB solenoids?

I'm with Byron there, use the WB solenoids. Providing the rubber boots on the solenoid actuating arms are in good condition and not letting water/dirt in, they'll last forever.
I got a set of WB Statesman front door solenoids with the rods etc and fitted them to my WB Van, works great and strong as an ox. If you can chop the plugs off the door wiring harnesses and also grab the rubber door jam boots from the same car it will make the job look perfect.
Take the doors off and use a 32mm hole saw for the door jam boots. Try and find a HQ with electric windows so you can find out exactly where the 32mm holes are in the door jams. You may have some dimples to use as a guide but not all 8.
Not sure what the unlock/lock outputs are on a Mongoose but I have found that most brands usually use negative outputs that you can feed into 2 x changeover relays to make it all work.
