I created this topic because the Monaro Nationals Photos thread has gone completely off topic.

I invite you to continue (and enjoy) discussion on the 2010 Nats here.

By the way I had a fantastic time and it was great to actually meet some of the people I have been discussing things with on this forum.

Cheers
Nick Moran.

I to had a great time, the CV8Z went well. I too have tinted windows and was competing against Don and Carl. Don from SA had a great exhaust also fitted. Carl's liked the not and we thought about distracting Don and "swapping exhaust" HAHA. I did not expect to win, as Idrive mine to work every day.

My brother was wrapped that he got his HJ LS there, and enjoyed the attention it got as well as meeting plenty of people and finding more ideas for his.

Was great driving Durwin's around the block, what a car.

Bring on WA.

We had a good time at the Nationals but walked away feeling that the event fell short of the mark, ie they had all the basics covered but it just lacked the polish.

The timing of the event was also interesting as it did not coincide with school holidays.

Not too sure that Warwick was also the ideal location for the Nationals as it didn't sell the state of QLD. But i must say that the motor vehicle repair businesess were more than helpful. I suppose that is just good old country town Australia.

Wow! So much to read through in the other topics that one wonders just how long before some contributors end up in serious trouble over some of the allegations made. Maybe they do not know that any statement made on an electronic forum is legal and binding? I went to the Warwick Nationals and found it to be excellent. First rate job done by the organisers is my way of summing it all up. The bonus was to catch up with so many Monaro owners and their magnificent vehicles and to be able to obtain another Ben Stewart masterpiece of factual Monaro data. I think I managed to get a chance to chat to all the significant Monaro people so my experience was complete.

Would anyone know how to obtain a contact for the pie shop girl who is rumoured to have a '71 Lina Mint 350 manual?

Great input from you Nick and it was a pleasure to say hello at the showgrounds and look over the minibike.

We drove up from the Gold Coast to have a look, sadly I cracked a head otherwise my HQ GTS/4 Barbados Green model would of been there as well. I thought it was a decent event, as stated lacking "polish" as such and being as far away from the "main" parts of SE QLD would of done the show no justice either. Next time it should be held somewhere like Carrara or Exhibition Grounds or similar, you would get easily 10 times the amount of people come for a look/bring their vehicles. I was really impressed with the quality of the vehicles though, was good to see some rarer models and check out what others have done to their pride and joy. All in all a good event though.

We originally thought about the Gold Coast, but it was decided by the clubs that it should be in a smaller town/city. The visiting clubs did not want to have the congestion etc.

Plus evryone staying all over the place, instead of all central. (on the plus side there would be no shortage of accommidation)

The other problem with the Gold Coast is they do not help in bringing these types of events. Small towns like the idea of bring a few thousand people to them. So help with venues etc.

I think youwill find that this nationals was the closest to a capital city than any other. (Wangeratta, Bathurst, Loxton, Ballarat, Warwick)

I have been thinking that choosing Warwick coincided with Warwick Yellow....I wonder if any of the organising comittee had that thought in the back of their mind when deciding on a town?????

Warwick was selected because the town was prepared to help the most.

Warwick Yellow is in tribute to Warwick Farm raceway. It was the start of the race track hero colours.

I know for fact you would of gotten a larger crowd through the gates had it been held closer to Brisbane/Gold Coast though.

People, not enthusiasts, don't want to drive 2 1/2 hours to an event, especially if they have young kids.

Friends of mine didn't make the trip for that sole reason and others I spoke to considered it too far.

In the end it was a good day regardless.

Yes I agree, we would hav had more visitors had we been close to a bigger centre. If we held it in Melbourne or Sydney the same could be said.

As the moneys from the gate went to local charity, w were nt that interested in the number coming hrough the gate.

Don't get me wrong, we wanted people to see the event, but this was not our number one priority.

I think about 2000 people made the effort so that was good for th charities, sellers etc.

I loved the nats at warwick, enjoyed Ballarat immensely.
Loxton was good, Bathurst was cold But the winner is,,,,
WANGARATTA by a long shot. Excellent situation just off the Hume highway, situated smack bang between 3 capital cities, cheap to
run, lots of accommodation, and is still the largest showing of cars!
Did someone mention HKTG nationals?
Wangaratta or rather Victoria is still the spiritual heartland of HKTG.
No other state in Australia compares to the revenue in parts and cars.
Ask the sellers that make it their lifeblood how much percentage wise each state accounts for, and you'll get the picture.
Bring it back to Victoria if you want the class to improve!
Bring it back to the heartland and watch the change!
And while you're there make it the HKTG nationals, open to all styles created in that family of cars. (sorry Simon, I just don't believe Loxton to be a good starting point)Also make sure the HKTG nationals fall in the odd years so as not to be contradictory to the Fantastic, all models Monaro nationals. fire away!
Thank you Nick for starting the topic again.

Eric, read the posts again. I have NEVER indicated Loxton as my preference for a HKTG National event.

This is why the reference to apologise to you was NOT referenced back to any quotation you made. And was merely made from a geographical viewpoint, friend to friend :-)
Are you not recognised for having thought or initiated the whole idea in the first place? I just felt to mention your name in a text relating to your idea was entirely appropriate.
I sincerely apologise to you if you felt that your name was being mis-appropriated as this was not the intention
Warmest and always best regards, Erik..

I'll think you'll find that we here in the West are buying all the top dollar cars and the majority of parts are heading West as well.
