Just curious about the market for oldholdens, are they selling? And have prices dropped or anything like that?

What about the non popular models (mingswoods especially)

reason i ask, i was bored and decided to see what sort of dollars HJ GTS sedans are asking, and just run of the mill cars, not matching numbers stuff or concourse and i was really suprised by some the asking prices, some were nice, sure, but nothing out of the ordinary (usual driveline conversion stuff, nice wheels etc)

in my darkest moments ive considered selling my car, and everythings for sale at the right price, but what exactly is the right price?

Is some of this stuff stupidly overpriced? If you can be bothered looking, theres half a dozen or so on carsales (HJ GTS, both 2 and 4 door) that aroused my interest (as an owner/potential seller, not a buyer)

cheers

I reckon HJ's are a pretty good thing, pricing isn't too. Bad. Everything is negotiable!

Still seems that HQ is the most popular and expensive of the styles, but it means there are bargains out there for HJ, HX, HZ models.

Guy at a shop i was in has been searching for an LJ Torana and can't find one that's half decent for a half decent price.

I think i saw a GTHO go for "only" $400,000 or so in a local paper not long ago. Far cry from the insane asks of last year.

would guys looking for such cars overlook something thats "modified" even if the mods are limited to bolt on stuff?

is it easier to sell as a roller with all the go fast stuff taken out?

I dunno if id get better dollars with a complete but modified car, or parting it out as car/driveline seperately.

Whats a typical, non matching numbers HJ GTS in half decent condition worth these days?

1 type of car that has dropped in price by a huge amount is 1 ton utes!

i was going to by a HQ tonner 5 years ago buy i couldn't afford $5000-$8000 they were pulling

even heaps of crap were still selling for $2000

i just brought 2 1 tonners 1 HX with 253 and 4 speed box (very rusty but complete) for $500 and a HQ with a 186 and 4 speed box with all the body work done (rust repairs ect) for $1200

i'm going to wreck the HX and finish the HQ (it was a unfinished project) to drive as a work ute

i was looking for a few months and i could have had many tonners for $900-$1500 all complete and in fair condition

so i reckon the prices are well down for the tonners, where will they go from here? down further or back up?, it seems that interest in the tonners has dried up

i spose there getting old now and the average tradie doesn't want a worn out ute anymore

VY and VZ beiong available cheap would be the principal reason I think.

I know of a guy who just sold a HQ GTS4 308 in maybe a 7/10 condition for $26,000
Red with orange and had a tan/brown interior.
Suprised me he got that much, maybe it was the strange interior colour.
