I thought why not see how many of you would venture out on a nice country drive at approximately this time of year, to go to massive extravaganza of ALL KTG's in magnificent spring time country Victoria?.
Or on the other side, how many would go for a nice long country drive at approximately this time of year, for a nice showing of KTG's way down in beautiful Loxton?
Is it possible to organise such an event in 12 months or less?
Give us your ideas right here on fastlane :-)

Sorry Eric but i have already beaten you to it. You know that. Everyone who read the post titled 'HK HT HG Holden National 2011' on Fastlane and oldholden.com know it too. It is posted on here. By the way, I never indicated Loxton as a location for the event If you read the post correctly (wherever it is you got it from) I said I would refer to the Loxton 2006 event organisers for ideas. Ah, yeah, didnt read that one properly hey?

I am still going ahead with the event. Shame yours will clash with mine. Maybe come up with something original? Like an unfinished HT Prem wagon show? You could get all the unfinished, unrestored wagons nationwide to Wangaratta. That'll pull the crowds!!

Is'nt the whole thing your idea in the first place Simon?
My only reason for this posting is purely as a research tool in geographics. I am over the moon you are still enthusiastic and obviously quite passionate. Let's stay focused together on what could well be one of the best events to happen to all car lovers
Warmest regards, Erik

Agreed, It will be the cars and people in the show, that will make it an extravaganza :-)
No decision has obviously been reached on the venue.
The one I can pursue and in favour of is Wangaratta in Victoria.
Obviously Simon has only spoken with Loxton organisers, but has yet to forward a venue he would like.
Where would you like to see it held btw?
Best regards, and look forward to seeing you there.

Get many friendly publicans involved, camp sites of course, Australia day wont give enough time for organisers to plan and hold sites, would probably be a 2 day event and should definetely be kept simple as a first show of force is what leads to more organised events in the future. The more people and cars = greater future for event.
Of course the medias interests would be best served by being there.
cya there!!

My family as never been to South australia and sincerely we would love for nothing more than to go. 4 years ago my wife passed away 6 weeks after giving birth to our second daughter from cancer. After the funeral my biggest saviour was my HT Premier station wagon. It took my mind off things at night time when all the demons came out. Now 4 years on, my car still is'nt finished but it still has a huge place in my heart, as in many ways it was there when my wife was gone.
Then one day an individual brought the idea forward that cars like mine could be a part of an event to celebrate a fabulous era, a family of cars that's just like mine. Well I got really emotional and excited by the prospect and felt an overwhelming urge to help.
My car has 27569 on the firewall. my wifes b'day was 27/5/69 it's original number plate is kmh168. my b'day is 16/6/68. And it was my first car 24 years ago.
This object means the world to me and I have my doubts that anyone else out there has a similar coincidence. But I bet their car means just as much to them as mine does to me. And right now I feel very strongly about this event and seeing it go through, cause to me it's fitting and will give me a form of closure.
I urge you therefore please put forward your ideas or thoughts on where you would like the event. I say Wangaratta, cause this was the first ever car show I took my wife to in the old wagon and we had an absolute ball! Not to mention it's right on Australias main highway (Hume) between 3 capital cities, and a region that has a lot to offer.

P.S could the bloke that back then offered me his 64000 mile, silver mink over Goya red 327 one owner car contact me please. I have the $17 000 saved up for it :-) maybe not.

Thank you HDKool,

The knockers let themselves, events and clubs down. i only thought of posting my own story up there due to the underwhelming, unwelcome responses the knockers have impacted upon the club and possibly the event as a whole for everybody. Here is the person whom I believed to be a friend, heading up the HKTG national event publically humiliating my pride and joy. I think everybody must have put the covers back over their cars in response to something like that?

Referring back to HKTG parts recoverys very emotional comments, and I do feel they need to be addressed from my perspectve. We went up to the Monaro nationals and Simon (parts recovery) was kind enough to let myself and Dave (Bellarineclassicauto) share a motel room which he had organised to stay in. This was also to be the first time I ever met Simon, so I was really looking forward to that. I never was under the impression that I would'nt get along with him and looked forward to one day going down to his hometown to see his operation and have a few laughs like we did at the nationals. I can only summize that when we parted ways at the nationals he had the brilliant idea about having a HKTG nationals. So he started posting it up firstly on oldholden then approx a week following, here on fastlane. A couple of weeks went by and the topic started to go cold much to the dismay and frustrations of a few established enthusiasts and supporters, myself included.
We easily decided Not to hamper his proceedings with the event, but instead form an association, a club if you like. In support of events such as the HKTG nationals. So with this in hand Dave was set upon the task of registering the association as an incorporated association not for profit (nfp). Once he had this done, and I was duly informed via telephone. The first task was to let everyone hear the good news, Simon included as well. And also bring another idea to the table of finding out where the nationals would be most suited to kick off.(involve the participants and grease the wheels for Simons idea) All good?
Well not really. Dave firstly had registered the new nfp association as a registered organisation. Then Simon retaliates by claiming we are trying to steal his ideas. Meanwhile DCOE (anonymous)jumping to Simons aide, informs me of a heap of anomalies, such as falsely claiming the club to be nfp when obviously not. in fact I had no idea all along that Dave had registered wrongly. (being corrected now)
The only difference between incorporated association (nfp) and registered organisation (profit) is in reality just the mediator and tax laws. One pays the other does'nt. Both can be set up similar.
But we had already claimed it to be nfp so nfp it should be, which also brings it into line with the Monaro club inc. association.
Roll forward to today, and I was absolutely delighted to get your comment. It really makes all the difference just to hear or see a few kind words. I promise to all knockers and supporters alike that I will not let this new club or event down in the foreseeable near future. And with your help CAN make them both happen!!
If you have any ideas, or want to show your support
Then just email the club on [email protected] All are welcome to send in and I will do my best to keep up with the responses
Even if you should have some photos of your pride and joy, attach them on and perhaps we should start a collage of hktg's to be put on display for the event. So if you're unable to make it, at least you can say hey! MY car was in it.
I Promise I'll keep the ole' girl also. Thank you once again and a big welcome to fastlane HDKool :)

Gee that is a bit convenient. The thread goes stale for a week, then a newbie comes in with his very first post with tales of support. To which Erik can respond with his meaningful heartfelt reply.

With this underhand type carry on.. the event is doomed before it even begins.

Yeah! HDKool and I are doing high fives over his pledge of support for me?
Go back to momma edelbrock, blame her for your misery or everyone else for that matter. I haven't got the time nor patience for you, or anyone else that plaster the words doom on a great event or club.
And unless you tell me right now you are also a part of organising, then Your fifteen minutes are up too you moron. And next time you come at me, or have a go at a first timer you better make it heartfelt, meaningful and contain more than four sentences of sacrimonious drivel. How dare you call someones first posting a tale? Could be a kid for petes sake!!
Go on, what say you in defence?
You better go get some help with it, and bring it right back here!!

Erik, I don't know you but after reading your brief summary of where you are at right now I wish I did. Bloody heartfelt and sincere, that's lacking in most today. No wonder blokes end up getting severe depression and worse when any attempt to open up personally are shot down. I have a humble HK V8 Kingy that will gladly be driven to wherever and whenever something to do with HKTG happens.
Don't care who organises it either, just get it done....Me wanna go for a drive.
