i've got a problem whereby the fuel gauge stops working usually when returning from a run (where its needed most...lol)
anyhow before i start looking, i thought it might be a resister overheating which cause's the gauge to stop working, am i on the right track???

Could be a lot of things. It's quite a common problem. Could be a bad earth, oid wiring or a whole bunch of things. Firstly check the wire that pushes onto the outside of the tank where the fuel sender goes in. Another thing it can be is the sender in the tank goes wonky and as the float goes up and down inside the tank depending on the level you'll sometimes have the guage work OK up till say half a tank then stop working. It can be a frustrating fix. Good luck tracking it down.
