When the wife starts her EB Fairmount everything seems normal, she switches anything electrical on and the volt meter dips to under half way and the fanbelt starts to scream its head off.
Switch all electrical off volt meter returns to over half way and and fan felt returns to normal - no more noise.
What problem do i have? many thanks for any assistance
John

Sounds like a loose belt - which could be a buggered tensioner. It's squealing under load, and not charging, which indicates slippage of the belt on the alternator pulley.
You'd be surprised how much load an alternator can put on the belt when current is in demand.

Belt might be less than a month old, but how is the tension on it? They do stretch after they've "run in" for a little while.
