The decimal point is in the wrong place or missing altogether.. The starting bid should be $60, not $6,000.

The ownership & vehicle details are in another smaller book called the Guardian Maintenance Guide. There is nothing unique about those 2 books.
There is no legitimate reason for those books to be priced at $6,000.

If you look at the seller's feeback history (as a buyer & seller) it's very apparent that this is the only car related item that they've ever bought or listed in the last 12 months.
Opportunistic listing?
Maybe they have no idea of the value, and a friend has conned them into believing it's worth so much?
Wouldn't be the first time it's happened. Just last night I had a bloke trying to tell me his VN SS that he paid $6K for (he got ripped) was worth more than a VK SS because it's newer..... I reckon there's at least 10 gullible idiots out there for every 1 genuine enthusiast.

A very relevant book to myself. As you say Dr Terry, its the smaller guardian maintenance book, sometimes referred to as a log book, that has any particular relevance, the details of a particular car they came with. I bought a monaro, which I still own, from the original owner 30 odd years ago and those books were not with the car. He assured me at the time that there were pieces around relating to the car and I couId have them if or when he come across them, I kept in touch with him and called in one day about 18 months ago only to learn he had passed away only a couple months earlier. I spoke to his daughter inlaw at the time and among other things I mentioned the books as well as old photos etc of the car. She assured me that in the process of tiding up his belongings relating to his estate if she came across any of those sort of things she would put them aside for me, I called again a few months later to say hello and find if anything had turned up but she had'nt got much done and would give a call. Imagine my surprise a few months ago when I received a phone call from a fellow enquiring about my monaro, if I still owned it etc etc, which I do. After some discussion he revealed to me that he had some material relating to the car that he bought at some sort of sale, old rego papers etc and lo and behold a guardian maintenance book included and incidently would I be interested in them, which of course I assured him I was and what did he plan to do with them. When money matters were mentioned $3 to $5000 came up to which I immediately responded absolutely no chance would I be interested in parting with that sort of money for them. He went on to say he would call back in half an hour giving me time to think about it. He rang a couple times in the next few days, but no money changed hands. In amongst the conversation I told him they belonged to this car and as far as the original owner and later his daughter inlaw was concerned Yes they belonged to this car and were therefore mine. At that point he decided to ring back some time and no he would'nt reveal his ph number, I have'nt heard anything since. The numbers for the car incidently are for yellow Sydney car # 161 with engine # 327xx002. Purchased in queanbeyan NSW. So if they do turn up anywhere you know where they came from. Yes of course I'm still interested and would pay something for them, but not if you're talking 1000s of $. .......Jack

The nerve of some people, he was probably a relative who was sorting stuff out for the old bloke and got greedy.

Yes Cloudy, that did cross mind once or twice, but later after speaking to the daughter or daughter inlaw that was tidying up the old blokes affairs I did'nt think so. Yes and things like is this a mate playing some game, also crossed my mind. Meanwhile the car and details have been on the monaro register for well over 10 years now....Jack
