Hello All,

I am aware of the 50th anniversary VT Commodore in 1998. Acknowledging the 50 years since the first Holden was produced; the 48-215 in 1948.

However, a friend has an anniversary VX Commodore from the year 2000. The car has anniversary stickers on the body in several places. In the owner's book the dealer has written "50th anniversary model" in the vehicle desrciption area of the booklet.

I am curious, what is the anniversary VX Commodore in 2000 acknowledging?

Thanks.....

I've never heard of it in a VX. Considering the VX launch was held off until ater the Olympics (because they'd already committed a heap of VTs) that only leaves a few months of VX production in 2000.

The only 50th models I know of are the VT Commodore you've mentioned (with the 50th badging & machined alloys), the 50th VT Calais (gold), 50th VS3 Statesmans & 50th VS3 utes (both in limited colours).
It was all well & truly over by the time the VX rolled onto the scene.

Cheers,

Mick

Thanks commodorenut for your thoughts. My friend and I could not work out what would have been special in 1950.

It maybe a dealership anniversary. I know there was a 50th or 25th anniversary HQ for Prestons in Melbourne in 72. They were pinted a special colour and it is listed in the Dulon books. (Preston Anniversary Beige Metallic)

The other 50ths are the HX, VC and VU UTE.

The best part about being wrong is the pleasure it brings to others.

United Motors (Holden Dealer in SA) had a 50th Anniversary and Had decals in the rear window around HX-Z era.
I have a VT 50th model july/98 build mine had an S pack spoiler dealer fitted option, well optioned cars, if it had climate air it would be on par with a Berlina for options.

Thanks for the ideas folks. I had not thought of a dealer only anniversary.
