G'day all.
I have 3 questions

1) I have the new HX premier front end painted up now and ready to go on(to replace the HQ premier front end on it now) And I was wondering if it is feasible to put it on one panel at a time instead of walking the whole lot on together?, as I will be doing it myself, with no one to help me,and, to lift a whole assembled front end on by myself might be a bit of a challenge!!

2) Are HQ and HX bonnet hinges the same?

3) How long should I allow for the job? remembering that I have never done it before as a whole job, I have changed guards before and front clips, but never the lot together, and is there any thing I need to watch out for?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers.Russ.

I have only done it one panel at a time. Hinges are the same I believe.

The advice I can offer is.

1. Use masking tape to tape the edge of all panels (including the front doors). You will be surprised how often adjacent panels will co

Hi Russ,

Definitely leave all bolts a bit loose (so they hold but the panel can be moved) until you have ALL the panels on.

The thing that will dtermine where all your other panels end up is the bonnet, so make sure you have that on and square befo

Thanx for the replies guys, I will certainly take them on board, but I have one more question. When I sprayed them up, I wasnt sure if there was enough paint left to do the whole second coat on the bonnet,so I left it to save running out half way through,

Hi Russ,

I'm no panelbeater/spray-painter, but I'd give it a rub over with 600 Wet and Dry and water before I did the extra coat.

OTOH, it may pay to wait until someone who knows what they're doing answers too... :-))

Cheers...Dave
