Hi there

I have another one of my ignorant questions to ask.

I've scored a set of headers for the EFI 308 in the HG.

They're a set of VN head HQ Pacemaker headers modified to fit the G.

They're a tri y design and the collectors have been changed from 2 1/4 to 2 1/2inch. (Primary 1 5/8 and secondary 1 7/8inch)

The motor is otherwise new but standard other than HSV cold air intake and a custom memcal.

So the question is, are these better than the VN cast GM headers and the standard VR HSV headers which are the other options I have.

Both of the above run a single 2 1/2 inch system.

I assume I'll have to run a bigger system for the Pacemakers.

I want a nice strong responsive motor, nice burble but not too loud. Use will be mainly for cruising with the odd bit of irrisponsibility (maybe track day or drag day)

Pros and cons??

I will be running Holden hi-flow(??) cat or cats in the system.

What are your thoughts??

Cheers

Jeremy

Pipe headers will have smoother insides and therefore give better flow than cast headers.

Will the VR headers suit the HG? I would choose the Pacemakers and run a dual system (more expensive though) with "X" pipe, add mufflers and resonators to suit tone and loudness. Bigger isnt always better with regards to performance, the rev range will determine pipe sizes due to volumetric flow rates.

James

ps do you need to run cats? the ADRs for your block will determine this

You only have to be in front at the end of the race.

Hey James

Yeah I'm not sure the VR ones will fit, but I'll look into it when I reinstall the motor.

The block's a HT vintage I think. Would probably run the cats anyway to save an argument??

I'd have to run a new exhaust I suppose anyway - because I couldn't run 2x2.5inch collectors into a single 2.5inch system anyway??

Cheers

Jeremy
