Must be. Looks like the price is going down down down. The most desirable of early Monaros and this is his asking price? I know of 307 cars insured for way more than that. To think 3 or 4 years ago when the prices were peaking this would of been a $200k car. I personally havent seen it close up but looks impressive in the photos, plus has been awarded as he says in the listing.
Just think of the money that has been pumped into the reproduction of panels and other parts for these because back then they saw the price NOS was selling for on ebay etc.and thought there'd be a market. They'd want to sell those GTS guards for half the price if they want to move them out the door. |

Interesting..........wonder what price the tarted up fairmonts are getting. Anyone paying the million bucks I've seen one advertised for must be busy kicking themselves.

if i had the spare coin for the car i would buy it at $115,000 or 160,000 its a good car, but yes it will be interesting to see where the price ends up with these cars, now that the new monaro,s are out of the scene is the interest slowly dying off?? will it be only the true monaro followers who will be left?? anyway i still got another 30-40 years left in me to track one down lol

I have been informed by a very good source that the car sold for $115k. So there you go. The king of the Monaros a HK GTS 327 in Warwick Yellow. Will people think twice about pumping $50k into a resto?
Hmmm, I wonder what a base model HK Monaro 6 cylinder would be worth now then? $60k for the best example? |

I know Darren and I know that car well. He restored it with NOS parts. That is a bargain for a car of that quality.

you must be reading alot of picture magazine to even think any of the tarted up cabs were even advertised for that price, and never has one even got close to reaching it, offers where there for a certain NSW cars but it didnt happen, and sadly, a tarted up mocka falcon cab with some good repro bits will still fetch $75k, when a prime NOS restored warwick yella can just tip the $100k mark, you work that out how that works next time your neckkin down a 4xxx looks like going ford is the going thing, even in these uncertain times huh??

The reason is obvious to me. So much less cars to choose from, hence the premium prices. Nothing good built since XA, hence the big interest in 2 or 3 series and models. _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |

well, i agree,i wouldnt pay big dollars for neither, but its also about "quality" not quantity, i'd rather have a hot date with a exotic babe then 10 dates with an average chick from port melbourne

I'm sort of with you Frank, I love Monaros, XU-1's and XA GT's. All too pricey for me to buy as they are even now, much better value in US product. For the asking price of a Replica XY GT you can have a proper US muscle car ( in my opinion: 2 door, V8, 4spd, 4 barrel twin exhaust), or for half the price a very good replica of one! Don't get me worng, i'd absolutely love that car of Darren's, but for $115k I could have this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebay...ucks&hash=item1e6117db4fNot exactly my choice of colours but hey, look at the thing! This is more my thing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebay...ucks&hash=item1c18f987cf_______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |

Greetings, Then you should also know that some big lies have been told in the ebay blurb about this yellow car. It was not at Wangaratta in 2002 for starters! The true history of this car is well known to many and that history hasn't been forthcoming. All in all, a fair price for a suspect car. Memories are amazing things so look out when there's a thief about. look out, the guru is coming through... |
