Hi all.
I have a HZ console which was buckskin and is now painted black. i want to paint it chamois..
Can anyone recommend a good way of removing the black before I paint it?
Or should i just go over the top of the black? Would rather paint over the buckskin though for longevity....

Get it soda blasted. If you don't want to spend the money I have found with vinyl paint when doing a few experiments that brake fluid will not even move it but petrol will. So try wiping a rag with some fuel on it in a place that will not be seen and see if it does not melt the plastic and does remove the paint. Make sure you are doing it in a well ventilated place and away from any type of spark. Some paint thinners may also work but they may be aggressive to the plastics |

I meant to mention that if you get it soda blasted that will bring it back to the basic black base which is the best way to go about recolouring it, all consoles were coloured over the base black from the factory |

Cool. Thanks mate. Ill look into that. Ive painted a few consoles before and theyve always come up a treat, but I was just wondering about this one as its already been painted once at least and going from what youve said, maybe twice... Cheers.
