How do I stop/repel the neighbours cat from climbing on my cars? (good cars, not the yard ornaments!) I'm looking for old wives tales etc to encourage the bloody thing to stay in its yard.
Have spoken to its owners, they think the thing is human and can do no wrong.
Have dusted the property line with cayenne pepper to no avail.
i know i can involve the council but I'd rather deal with it without involving them.
It's a bull sheet problem I shouldn't have to deal with but i do. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so, what'd you do?

It all comes down to responsible cat ownership. Once a cat has been let outside for a few hours a day it's hard to keep them in. Cats should never be left outside overnight as they kill native wildlife such as birds at dawn. http://www.cat-repellant.info might give you some good tips as might an electric fence. |

i have the same problem with my neighbours cat, i've tried throwing rocks at it and swearing at it but it still comes back!
the neighbours think it's ok, it sleeps on there car too so what's the problem!!! the problem is a lack of respect, cats are stupid animals and cat owners (not all) don't lock them up at night and they run a muck
the people next door know what i'll do if i catch the bloody thing, till then the war continues!

Cover your bonnet in grease. When the cat gets covered in grease and treads it through the owners house and they have to wash the grease off their carpet and the cat they might do something about it and it's relatively harmless. I have three cats. One never goes outside and the older two only go out for an hour in the morning. Needless to say we use up a fair amount of cat litter but we never get mice in the house. bloody hell, what sort of cats do you have!! i use to work with a guy who had a Persian cat, it was a big bastard, it would go out and bring back rabbits cats are very good hunters, i've seen a cat jump out of a tree and catch a bird mid flight, i seen the same cat sneak up on a bird with 1 paw on it's bell (on it's collar), quite clever i thought

Two black moggies not big about 4Kg each. Most of the brown snakes that we get are no more than 1 metre in length and the majority of what they used to get were juvenile (but just as deadly). One cat lost a fight with a snake once. That got expensive but he made a full recovery. They catch rabbits occasionally too & unfortunately sometimes a bird gets unlucky. I had to concrete the aviary floors because snakes would tunnel in and kill the birds as they ate off the floor. I once saw my (now dead) kelpie X dog take a sparrow in mid flight when she was a young dog but that's off topic now. |

Catch it in a possum trap and take it to the pound. Tell them you caught it as it was creating nuisance. Will cost owners to get it out of the pound. Keep doing the same thing. A guy I knew used to not take them to the pound, but just drop the possum trap in a 44 gallon drum full of water a few times. Cats never came back once let out. Once he left t too long in the water. Cat died. |

how tragic, the cat dying! my daughter when 2yo was washing the guinea pigs in a bucket...found them the next day...daddy the piggies won't eat...

I watched it too. Very funny but also really not that hard to do if you can forgo the cameras. The "laser eyed" cat looks just like one of mine.
You could also go a bit simpler and rig veggie garden type sprinklers to the underside of your carport roof and have the movement sensor switching a garden irrigation solenoid on your tap.
The downside to this is that if you forget to turn the thing off your going to get wet when getting to your car.

You 're talking about a little lead injection, or try a gentle pat on the head with a nice soft piece of 4x2 timber, that could bring about a rather sudden deteriation in the health condition.
