Hi All

Seems a bit slow on here lately and thought i'd try and get something going.

I have seen questions on what cars people like but thought it might be intersting to know what interiors people like best - cause sometimes i think they can reduce the appeal of a car (for example, I like the look of a torana, but don't like the inside styling)?

For, me, for an Aussie car, i like the J/X/Z interior in black.

Mark

Yes I too think that the HJ/X/Z GTS dash is one of the nicest looking things ever fitted inside a car as well as the matching steering wheel. The WB Statesman interior is also very nice.

I agree with the sentiment on Toranas The styling of LH/LX exteriors was good but having a plank with holes for the dash? At least they improved the interior of the UC over it's predecessor if not the exterior.

I liked the LJ interior too as it was clean and simple Ditto the HG and the VE Valiant for the same reasons.

I'm also a fan of the VR/VS Statesman and Caprice interior.

TE Cortina S Pack was a nice car inside too as were XC Falcons.

Never liked the XA/XB dash though as they just looked bent. Funny thing is I'm not that fond of the HQ dash or the VH Valiant dash of the same period so none of the big three got it right in 1972 (in my opinion anyway). HQ Prem armrests though they are a work of art.

I like the outside of my Capri but as for the inside I think that the only original parts I might keep in there are the door trims and rear seat.

VH SLE in maroon velour for me! Absolutely gorgeous. A mates dad had one from new and he was kind enough to let his son borrow it on week-ends.

Now is it the interior that is exciting me or is it the memories of cruising around in that car????

Most definately both!

Cheers,
Allan

I've got to agree with you there Allan.
In a close 2nd place I'd have blue VL Calais trim/interior - but it misses out on the trip computer that the SL/E has, and can't match the "Mafia Club" atmosphere that the Claret velour oozes.
Cheers,

Mick

I'm with Byron HJ GTS 60A or 60V http://gallery.oldholden...odes/HJ/60+Chamois/GTS/
early girls I like EK 965 http://gallery.oldholden...ral+and+Barossa+Maroon/ check out the 9000 mile trim compared to the slightly more weathered version, and HG GTS 15Z http://gallery.oldholden...Trim/HG/15+Indy+Orange/

I think some of the HQ cloth interiors look fantastic, however the dash is terrible and the seats were awful to sit in.

HZ in slate black with a GTS dash is up there for me.

The interior I could spend the most time sitting in though is the VS Statesman with Dark Grey Velour. Those warm comfy seats, the way the dash top curves, that classy analogue clock in the middle of the dash - it feels like a quality interior and everything blends in together just nicely. Wouldn't mind doing a full VS statesman transplant into my Premier wagon one day. Engine, box, interior, electrics.

EH premier, with genuine leather buckets and ivory steering wheel etc with old skool smiths gauges in the middle of the dash.
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.

Love the tartan cloth inserts in the HZ GTS as well. Any colour. So I suppose HZ GTS gets the gong really.
