I probably have 50 or so photos somewhere of all the ones that have been up for sale on ebay and on blogs and similar sites. Most are in the project category, few in the 'drive it away state' I would say about 8 or 9 to 1 ratio.

So who else has one??

I've got 4 here Brian, 2 K's and 2 T's.

I reckon you're right about the HG's Simon, I've been hunting for a decent one for a few years and can't even seem to find a rough one.

Also had a decent look over the one in Mittagong (charity bash Brougham)over Easter along with a very respectable Monaro rally car in the same shed.

Thats Baldy!!
Cool shed ay!! nice history in there
Got some bits off him a few months back.
So we are up to 16.
Are they drivable Crusty? My only drivable one IS a HG.
I'll put some photos of the bits of the build that I could fit in the photo frame up in a link in the next few days.(I had no room in the shed to stand back, and I have a very steep driveway, so I couldnt push it out.)

Yeah that was ol baldy. It seems I was about 8 weeks too late. Someone pretty much bought everything he had or at least everything that was priced about right.

None of mine are registered yet but 2 are drivers and one is a driver as long as you dont mind getting a little cold seeing as the doors and windows are on the shelf.

i've owned a hg brougham for about 6 years now.

last weekend i started work on it! shameful, i know....

mines a feb '71, 308H tri air & steer, kashmir with off white brocade trim, the trim is in very nice condition. has a rego sticker dated 1980, been unreg and off the road since then. engine is seized, but very complete. air cleaner, AC spark plugs, 15psi radiator cap, locking tangs on the exhaust manifolds, timing cover oil filler cap.
Bruvpig would you believe my car still has a sticker on the rear window from CENTREPOINT POWER STEERING SERVICES CANBERRA- hows that i think i saw you are from the nations capital.

i am not planning on concourse resto, i'm thinking more along the lines of improved factory or resto-mod or whatever. i have a beautiful 308 from an sl/e a mate gave me with a bob grant improved trimatic (chirps into second gear!) complete with a full gonzo's exhaust system. i fitted the pacemaker extractors from the VC and the bit of a pein on the second pipe on the drivers side, it fits like a glove! kicked a big goal there, they look unreal.

someone at some time in the past got excited and stripped her of most paint and left it like that, she is coated in surface rust but not to the extent of being rooted. i'm hoping to have it mobile by september for the young bloke's year 12 formal.

i'm taking photo's as i go, so when i figure it out i'll upload pictures for all to se'.

NZSTATO- your online restoration photos of your rebuild were a huge inspiration for me, so thank you for that. my spouse doesn't share my enthusiasm however, she'll come round.

cheers damien

I know of a stretched rolling shell. Has a good 5 feet added to the middle. Very neat looking job too. Pretty sure it's still in a shed awaiting completion.

Cant find it anywhere. I was under the impression that it may have been as low as 2000 for the HG (don't know where this came from, but it rings a bell from way back in my youth)

Next question,,, who has one out there?(or two.. or three..)
I have a soft spot for the citrus ugly duckling
Brian

Greetings, The most accurate total I have seen indicates just shy of 9,000 for the three models combined. The HK was by far the largest volume followed by HT and the HG is by far the rarest. The HG total is way less than 2,000 as the model was discontinued in April 1971 at the same time as the Monaro models. There were only about 400 built in 1971 making these cars few and far between these days.

My 8/70 Cameo Gold is loaded to the max as it was a special build, even with a cassette player under the passenger side of the dash due to the air conditioning.

I've never found a 1971 build car with air as the option was pulled from production in late February that year. The last cars were built in the final week of April. The owner of the 2/71 car has quite a rare beast given the options fitted.
look out, the guru is coming through...

Hi Git.
Can you email me a picture of the Air-con bracket to mount the compressor. Mine is missing and I cant find anything with a picture of one.
I wonder if the early HG's were loaded up to try for a sales rescue? My 7/70 HG came with the bells and whistles too (same colour BTW though the radio was gone long before I got it)
As an interesting thing... when I was stripping the car to respray, I used stripper on the firewall and there was a shaddow handwritten, probably in texta firstly saying 81469 then all the options that were to be installed on the car.. what was interesting was that they had written trimatic auto (tri auto)on there too, even though I thought they all were. Wish I had taken a photo of it.

Looks like at least one went offshore

Check out the classy mods on this little number. Heaps of differences that look like they may have been factory too.. Obviously heating wasnt a big deal. Monaro dash is interesting for an export car.Even the indicator lenses on the rear look different.

No bargain though.
