I thinking of putting a clutch fan on my HT GTS 350 instead of the 4 blade stock one. Is a clutch fan better than the standard? Has anyone tried this before?

One thing to ponder with a clutch fan is the extra weight that is suspended out the front of the water pump places extra stress on the water pump bearing and has in some cases may cause premature pump failure.

Like I said, just something to ponder.

Conversely, when you buy a new red or blue motor V8 water pump they won't warrant them if you don't use a viscous fan (or something like that).

I'm trying not to move too far from originality, keeping the original shroud. The HT parts book specifies a viscous fan for the V8 monaros. I have been given one from that era and its in good condition.

They are better in design in that the Clutch fan will be locked in its room temperature, Until the heat from the running motor warms the Spring inside(i think thats how they work?) the Fans Housing and from there its disengaged. Making the Fan Free-wheeli
