I have just picked up a T5 that i was told was out of a 6cyl EF falcon, the problem i have is it doesn't seem to be quite right.
I was looking for a WC box as these are stronger unit.
Got the box home and started looking closely at it,
The metal tag has 87da-7003-ab stamped on it which my searching reveals to be an EA code (Non WC)
There is no 'roofing nail' on the side of the case also points to non WC
1st ratio is 3.5:1 > EA
and also the date cassting on the case is 89
At this point i was annoyed that i didn't get what was advertised but thought i would do more checking so i pulled the bellhousing off and found that the laygear had the WC bearing carrier and this got me interested so i pulled the box open to find that it had the WC synchros also.
So it seems that i have a WC box but with the shorter ratios but from all the info i can find on the net these didn't exist.
Is it possible that Tickford/FPV vehicles got WC boxes or has someone rebuilt this as a WC box (something i thought was not possible)?
Any info would much appreciated.
Nick
