The floor in this car is perfect, except for about 50c piece spot of surface rust where the accelerator pedal foot rub on the floor. It is painted like when it left the factory still. The floor shifter hole looks like it is chopped out, not pressed. |

They may have been cut after as not many belmonts would have had a floor shift.

Hi petaus they are not just ad ons like you say. Its them so called ad ons that make them what they are. There are lots of them ad ons or cut offs as with the gear lever hole or never added ons if you like and sometimes it was just a number stencilled on to an assembly that made all the difference. ie HK part # 2805250. You and I could put together all the new parts that were used in that assembly exactly as they would have come from the factory, but it does not make it p/n 2805250 and the real difference though is just a white stencil 2805250 and this stencil was added only to a front suspension assembly assembled at the factory intended originally for fitting to a HK 81837. Incidently that assembly is listed only in Holden parts catalogue # M36567. Yeh I know it's just a one second squirt of paint. A pretty fine line eh, BUT it seems to make a big difference to some.......Jack

jack i know what your saying, but look at these cars any hk or hq 81837, the front floor same stamping as any old hk or q belmont with a extra pressing for the gear box linkages, same as the tank floor hk,t,g same floor extra add on pressing for the hump, these cars were just an exstenion of the other models to capture greater market, no different today as a standard commodore to an ss for example.

hey Kev lets start a conspiracy theory, between the dates (put your cars dates here) holden ran out of oxy so they had to cut the holes with a nibbler til they got there bottles re-filled so that makes your cars rare, only 10 holes cut like this!! i can see the ebay add now :-)

Its a bit late on this but if possible Peter could you let the owner know about the HQ SS websites we have now please. Main SS web address http://s300.photobucket.com/albums/nn14/HQSS1972/
This now has around 1300 images of SS's, including group members cars, road tests from the 70's and all other SS related things that we can find. We also have a SS Web Forum http://www.concourseparts com.au/forum/ (Just add the dot between concourseparts and com. Or if its easier just my email address and if anyone else would like to talk to me about HQ SS's feel free to email me. HQSS@oldholden com (Just add the dot between oldholden and com. I would love to see any pictures the owner may have of it. Cheers Paul. Edited by user Sunday, 12 June 2011 8:04:09 PM(UTC)

Hi Paul,
I read a few bits on the SS web forum.
This SS is still owned by the original one owner bought new. It is all original paint except LHR door and 3 spraycan touch up patches.
The colour is Infra Red. The SS stripes are painted on bonnet and boot with decals on the curved section on nosecone and quarter panel ends. The owner said it has always been like that from new and he wondered why it was not all painted himself.
Guess what? The car has no rust around the windows at all The original glass was still in, and after taking it out, it was clean |
