I thought it would be interesting to see what rare parts people have got. Some parts you might think are rare might not be all that rare, or some part you have lying around might be the holy grail. By rare you may interchange scarce/sought after or just something you particularly like even if it's not all that rare.

Extra points if your part is on a driver rather than in a cupboard but everything counts.

I don't have anything all that rare. I am into HKTG so I would say my radius rods and a set of fast glass for a sedan. Also a HK GTS boot lock bezel which were pretty rare 20 years ago. What have you guys got?

I would be real interested to see an aircon bracket for the 308 with power steering on the ht/g. I think every one threw them away.
Got the fast glass and radius rods, hk gts boot moulds, but not the Bezel.
Got front buckets for a HG brougham in brocade, not many of them around.

Has anyone seen a remote mirror for the same series??

HQ 140mph speedo sitting in my cabinet.
HX woodgrain GTS dash in my HX 5.0 prem
HQ tripple gauge (large one)
HZ police speedo in my van
HQ mud deflector kit for front guards NOS
lots of usual nasco bits overiders ,scuff plates ,granny visors etc.
HQ consoles for auto and manual (not 350)
HQ genuine GTS guards and guages, steering wheel, all sorts.
Like most people I throw some on ebay now and again to get the most money I gave up selling at swaps years ago.

Probably the hardest to find bits I have now are both HK GTS:

Steering wheel NOS.
GTS cabin wiring harness.

Rarest parts originally? There'd be a long list of low volume bits. Like a HK-HG 12 bolt rear axle. Maybe a replacement engine for an LC XU1 (3100N or NK)? I think others here have quoted A/C cylinder head for a 186 HK-HG before as very rare. Some of the odder Nasco accessories that were expensive would be very rare too.

Well thats the rare one...
I had a door trim and door with the hole, but the mirror missing.
Last one i saw went for $800

But good news is that the Valiant has the same mirror (but different mount) So if you break one, keep the mount.

Original spats?
Door protectors?
Picnic radio and parcel shelf
For the Hk-G, these are some of the rare ones that I look for.

Good wiring looms are real hard to find

Brackets to suit an HK/T/G 6-cyl with both a/cond & p/steer. You do see 6-cyl with p/steer (rare), you do see 6-cyl with a/cond (very rare), but to have both on one engine with their unique brackets is ultra rare.

Hey Doc.....
You wouldnt believe it but... When I bought a PS steup off ebay, they sent me brackets for that very thing, even though it wasnt on the listing. I would have tumbled for joy 25 years ago when I had the 186, but now I have the V8, and cant find the same setup for it.
Thankfully Satanic customs has one on his HG, and is sending me a photo as we speak (type).
But I would have to agree with the rarity... must have driven like a grey motor with all the power loss.

But on a turbo'd motor...
Brian

not so much a part, but a 1972 HQ Kingswood, Preston motors 60th anniversary special, has special order paint (anniversary beige), special order trim (antique saddle diamond weave buckets), floor shift auto, U16 optioned sports dash, Stereo cassette player & speekers & the horn badge (no badges on the c pillar like the GM-H 25th anniversary cars).
I can't find any info on these at all & I haven't found anyone else who has even seen another one of these...

Also have `Holden` body plates rectangle one from around 1927 and 2 oval ones around mid 1930`s, also a Statesman/Brougham shield made from solid resin in full colour which was originally from a Holden dealer but the wreath is missing . its approx 6x7inches and 1-2 inches thick I have never seen another in the flesh, I got it years ago from an old guy at a swapmeet.

How many 12 bolts HK1837?

Can't have been many. They were an accessory for fitmen to HK 1837 and HT 1837 manual only. They were dealer fitted as an accessory available only by special order. Ben told me about the cost and it was something like $700 in 1968/9 which was like 20% of the cost of the car back then. So you can imagine how many were bought. Imagine an optional diff on a V2 CV8 that cost $12000, and how many would be sold.
