The QU prefix, if I'm correct, say's it out of a HQ Monaro 350. The HQ Statesman came with a 11QU prefix in the 350.

It is from a Dandenong built HQ GTS350 coupe or LS with L30 engine option. I'll see if I can get more info on it, like if the original car is still around and looking for its engine! |

Hey HK1837, which part of the number tells you it's a coupe or LS? Also the L30 (which I assume is stamped on the tags) means it had the 350? Cheers

It is an early number from Dandenong hence it has to be a coupe or LS as apart from statesman these were the only cars to get 350 (it has no 11 prefix so is not Statesman). It could at the outside be from one of the other handful of Dandenong cars built with 350's which I think there were 4 x Premier wagons and 2 x utes, however I think the number is a little early for these and it looks way too early to be from an XW8 Kingswood. We'll see soon enough where it belongs. |

Apparantly there were a lot less Dandenong built HQ Statesmans with L30 engine than I thought, so this engine is later than I expected. It is probably from a car from the first half of 1973, and it is a manual engine so MOST likely from a 4 door GTS as bugger all 1973 build 4 door Dandenong 350 powered GTS coupes were made. Could still be a coupe engine, but probably not. So, does anyone know of a 1973 HQ GTS350 manual sedan or coupe missing its engine? This will be a near one off opportunity to get in touch with Mick ^^^above and buy it if he'll sell it! |

You're spot on in this being a manual engine. The code is the same as mine. The Monaro guru would be able to tell you which car it belongs to (or did belong to). If it was a Sydney engine I would buy it for a spare.

I imagine so too, but there are a fair few 350 cars around without their engines. You never know! |
