Guys just purchased a HQ Monaro and the old owner swares black and blue the car is fitted with an A9X 308. How do I tell if he is full of it or not.
Engine prefix is 11QT, I don’t really mind if the car has not got a A9X motor as it goes really well. But I got the feeling this guy was pulling my leg.

IIRC it should probably end in a Z, and I'm thinking HZ is more likely (H as in LH/LX torry, and Z for the variant - high output 5L).

Cheers,

Mick

All A9X engines are prefixed HT, as the engines are stock L31. The HZ prefix is the L34 engine. The ONLY reason a block belonging to an A9X would be special would be if someone had an original A9X and you had his/her correct engine number. All A9X vehicle
