IF the WA Nationals are going to be run Gold Class with Gold Class entry fees.I hope that the fees covers ALL costs ie:food and drinks at ALL of the days events and any other out of pocket expenses! quote: Originally posted by anonymous

never been to w.a bob was looking forward to it after driving with family and friends 5500kms to warwick in the old hk we had a blast and i would have drove to busselton but not now they think entrants are cash cows....
Maybe 65ehpv can answer why the Nationals has been turned into a " Gold cash cow Class" event

"Time to move forward with this event. It is no longer a bunch of guys with their cars rolling upi to a footy oval and opening the bonnet. It's now a big event with some serious dollar cars involved.
Entrants are now also younger plus there is an increase in families attending.
Sitting in a tent in watching some old holden movies, eating dinner of plastic plates, doesn't cut it any more.
The event can and should become more conference like in appearance and organisation.
FYI I'll be at next weekends' Monaro Nationals and am planning to have a good look how this one is run, as the last one in Ballarat was not good. The infighting between club members weeks before the event didn't help things.
I know that the WA Monaro club has pre raised 50K for their bid in 2012.
The difference between the EH ASR and Monaro Nationals model is that the latter has to raise their own seed funds, where the former gets the profit from the previous club.
Following the Monaro model, the host club can make quite a bit of money from staging the vent, therefore there is an expectation that the entire weekend is Gold Class.
So in conclusion, a great topic"
Wonder what the WA Monao Club think about this or is 65 ehpv on their committee. ? $50,000 big ones already and they looking to make more

Please allow me to quantify the highlighted part of this quote for the record. Firstly, the EH ASR, (EH All State Run), is a non-profit event. If there is a residual of funds from the previous bi-annual EH ASR, it is passed onto the hosting committee for the next EH ASR event for the purpose of deposits for venues etc. From my experience, this is a very small figure, in the order of hundreds, perhaps a thousand dollars. If a loss is made, then there are no residual funds. Secondly, & more importantly, the EH ASR is a peer judged event. You enter, you cast your vote as you see fit for each category. For the top award, the car must be driven to the event. And thirdly, another difference in the event model is the lack of a concourse based category....Thank Christ! Regards, John McBride. P.S. If you have yet to be directly involved with a committee that organises such an event, please try & crunch some numbers to get a handle on what costs are involved. You will be amazed. john i cant comment on the ehasr thing but i do know what a nationals costs from our one here in s.a.... i got a responce back from the w.a club in regards to the price hike....they informed me that they have 4 events to cater for warwick had 3 so that means 1 extra feed = a 113% price hike what a fuxxing joke.... Hahahaha, You, me and I imagine Simon well and truly agree on that one. Reckon you will need to include bonus points for snapping the outer legs off HK 5 litre badges and using Sikaflex to stick them on.

When our club held the EH ASR, we received $1000 from the previous ASR holder, and passed on $1500 to the next ASR holder. Not really a huge sum when running an event for over 100 cars (200+ people) I certainly wouldn't call it profit. More of a gesture to allow the next club to kick start a new account. |

G'Day Guys,
I see that i have been quoted in this thread re the WA Monaro Nationals costs.
Firstly I am a member of the WA club as well as the EH car club. I am not on the committee for either club nor for the Monaro event. I do plan on attending with my family and will help out as required as i am sure most members will b asked to do.
Re my comment back in August 2010 about the 50K raised obviously this is grossly over estimated and I appologise if people have taken this as gospel.
In hind sight i doubt whether there would be too many car shows/ national events that would need that much to run.
The entry fees do appear higher than the last one and I can only put that down to the WA club wanting to provide each entrant with something more than the previous ones.
As someone who has ventured across the Nullabor several times to attend both Monaro and EH events, I would encourge you guys to do the same. Driving across our great country in an old holden is a bucket list tick item not to be missed.
cheers |

65ehpv i emailed the club to let them know i wasnt happy the responces i got was mind blowing the first one i got was well warwick had 3 events to cater for we have 4 to cater for wtf.... the second one i got after emailing them again was even more bizzare as i told them i wasnt coming now because of the 113% increase and they should know more than anyone how much it costs to get your car and family over i said it costs 2k plus i was told if you decided not to attend an event that as you rightly say will cost you a few thousand dollars for the sake of $200 then we will miss you but we will understand.... thats not a very proffesional thing to say.... they are saying i shouldnt worry that there prices are far more im already paying x amount to come anyway.... you say they are planning on making this a bigger and better nationals than the rest but in no way should the entrants who make this event pay for it.... you say the entry fee prices do seem higher than the last one rotflmao yeah 113% higher.... i was also told the entry numbers are very good how can this be when the prices have only been known to members of other states 3 days ago there are even people from w.a not attending because of the over inflated prices.... i can see this event becoming the w.a entrant nationals which is a real shame as i and most monaro lovers can not wait for this event to come around but i will not be made a cash cow on principle.... another good point from a close friend since when did the nationals go from a family orientated event to a corporate event.... Greetings, Has anyone looked at the event in terms of value for money? The website is still being developed but the prices may reflect a whole lot of activities and things that makes it seem small in comparison to other events. On face value it may be a big hike over the last one but how much bang for your buck will you get? |
look out, the guru is coming through... |
